PIMOPERA cd available

May 15th, 2012

We finally got 3 boxes of CDs yesterday. Now it’s available on Band Camp, both digital version & CD version. It’s a 6 panel jewel CD design with all the lyrics. Get one before it’s too late.

I’m happy to announce that my new photo will be shown at Songs of Ordinary Madness at the Running Horse Contemporary Art Space in Lebanon. It is also the very first time I show my work in the Middle East. Love the design of this invite.

Comments from Breathing Room: Desiring your twisted embrace.

I spent a wonder month in Woodstock in July, 2010. I was walking back & forth between a countryside house & CPW all the time. On my way, I met bees, flowers & deer.

I’m glad to hear that a curatorial practices class at the School of Visual Art utilized the images database from CPW artists and made a tumblr website called Breathing Room.

There’s a presentation on May, 2nd at SVA. Join us if you have time.

The quietest place on Earth is a room in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the longest anyone has stayed in the dark there is 45 minutes. The ‘anechoic chamber’ at OrfieldLaboratories absorbs over 99 percent of sound with 3-foot-thick fiberglass wedges and insulated walls, removing virtually every sound except that of people and objects brought into the chamber. In some cases, that’s used for simple industrial purposes: it’s a way to hear the sounds of switches, motors, or washing machines without outside interference.

Put a human being in there, however, and they become disoriented or even experience hallucinations. After a few minutes, founder Steven Orfield told the Daily Mail, your body begins to adapt to the soundlessness, picking up smaller and smaller sounds. “You’ll hear your heart beating, sometimes you can hear your lungs, hear your stomach gurgling loudly. In the anechoic chamber, you become the sound.” Because there are no external sounds, it’s difficult to move around: “If you’re in there for half an hour, you have to be in a chair.”

In extreme cases, the sensory deprivation is debilitating. NASA astronauts train by being placed in a water tank in the room, an experience that apparently causes hallucinations as the body tries to create sensations out of thin air. When the lights are turned out, theMail says that the longest time anyone has been able to stay inside is 45 minutes. AtOrfield, it seems, the greatest distraction of all is not noise but silence.

Pimo Band Website

December 20th, 2011

Finally I’ve setup a simple website for our band PIMO!

We had a debut performance in front of people after “My Spiritual Medicine“‘s premiere at Ran Tea House on 12/10/2011. It was a full house of people and we were really nervous.

Even though I’m spending a lot of time on our band, I don’t really think myself as a musician. To me, PIMO band is more of an art project collaboration with a musician (Moro might think the other way). But anyway, I’m really enjoying the process. We are planning to make our first album, CD and music videos. Lots of things to do, keep me excited!

Pimo Flipbook

November 27th, 2011

I finally bought a decent printer. Now I can start making all the books I want to make.

I’ve made three small flipbooks in one night already. They are “Ride a Horse”, “Down a Slide” & “Wiping Mouth”.  Each book is about 60-70 pages & binded with a rubber bind. The flipbooks are from PIMO’s instruction videos on HOW TOs in daily life.

The books are in editions of 10 & will be available for purchase on my website soon.
